			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So it was a full house and a demanding audience: they asked questions, questioned and discussed the American context I placed the story in, questioned and debated the themes, questioned the reading selections I selected, asked me to read more scenes from deeper into the book—it was a bit like having to prove yourself to your parents—and then finally applauded. My agent Mary Evans, who introduced the book and me to the audience rather beautifully, finally said, just buy the book (some did) and read it.  After which we went to dinner at nearby Manna Dew. </p>
<p>Fashion: Long cashmere Hermes-orange cardie, purchased at Kate Carty’s in Millerton, white tee, j-brand skinnies, super high (5&#8243;), super cool tan suede lace up boots (Kors), with silk cream/peach polka dot neck scarf.   </p>
